What I'm Doing This Weekend

Heading up to Mackinaw for some gas and a quest to find Burt's Bee's chapstick. I got a tube of Mango Burt's Bee's for Christmas and a few weeks ago I finished up the tube. I was pretty pleased with myself that I actually finished a whole tube of chapstick. (lip balm?) And let me tell you. It will be a quest, what with Mackinaw City being a ghost town this time of year.

The boy coming over. I do so hope he can make it. If not tonight will be awfully dull, what with Noey going to be with Tanner. It's quite hard to find time to be with Hunter, as he's generally extremely busy. What with school, track practice, track meets, I haven't had him much for the past couple months.

Going to my cousin's graduation party. I have a complete aversion to graduation parties (even my own) in general. But, lets be real here, when there are hot wings involved I'm so in. Plus, Casie's coming along and that always makes for a good time.

Bowling! I haven't been bowling since last July (if going with your church camp counts...) and Casie, Noey, and I decided we needed to go. So I shall be bowling my heart out, probably completely failing, but that's okay.

Mackinac Island. Okay, before I get into why I'm going to Mackinac Island I need to clear something up. As a long time worker in Mackinaw City I've ran across a lot of confused people. So, if you are thinking of coming up to Mackinaw City I will save you some confusion now and tell you this ahead of time.
1) No. The Mackinac Bridge does not swing over to the Island. Ever.
2) There are also no dolphins in the water. (Seriously have heard this before... unm. Hello. It's the Great Lakes dingbat)
3) Mackinaw with a "W" is the city. Mackinac with a "C" is the Island/Bridge. And no, it's not pronounced Mackinack. It's pronounced exactly the same. Mackinac is the French spelling.
4) If you fail to recognize any of these things you will be called a Fudgie. End of story.
Okay, anyway, on Mother's Day every year one of the ferries lets you over to the Island for free. Which is a huge deal when the tickets generally cost $20. So most locals head over there on Sunday. It's become a recent tradition. Mackinac Island is one of my favorite places in the world, what with all the bikes and history and just plain prettiness. Plus, you can't beat their delicious fudge.

P.S. I always feel the need to apologize when I write a particularly rambly, long-winded post. But then I get to thinking: This is my blog. And this is how I am. If I know you well, at least. And in all honestly (and maybe this is sad) this blog is one of my closest friends. A confidant. So naturally I would ramble. I guess what I'm saying is, if you don't like it... well, I'm sorry. Ha. I can't even write an "apology" out without rambling!

  3. Yeah, Autie dragged me over and I love it too! I saw your group on the Island, and I said yo to Brad (seemed the proper way to address him). Did you have a good time? And thank you for saying dingbat in your post, I think that's an underused yet great word.

    1. Definitely the proper way to address him! I wish I would have saw you, I was probably preoccupied complaining about how long the stinking wait was! We had a delightful time, and now I'm pooped!
