Keep on Laughing

I'm generally a bit of a wallflower. And I know that the word, or phrase, "wallflower" has been thrown around quite often after The Perks of Being a Wallflower has become a phenomenon, but I truly feel as if I am one. I observe a lot, sit in the backgrounds and just watch. I'm known to be the more reserved, and quiet one of the group. Because of that I really feel like I belong in a Farmer's Market. When I'm there I get to observe everything; take in all the colors and really watch people. You see people who are engrossed in their trade, who are passionate about what they're doing. And the beautiful displays and color are inspiring to my eye.
Needless to say, I went to a Farmer's Market over the weekend. It was fun, even though I didn't buy anything. The books were by far my favorite part! So many old, old poetry books that I was just itching to buy. But, I'm really trying to save my pennies for a prom dress. Woe is me. The only thing that may have been more interesting than the books would be this whole box of spoon rings that a man had for sale. They were gorgeous and I just wanted one so, so bad. Ugh.

P.S. All these pictures were taken by one of my BFF's Lauren of Lauren Anne Photography. She's 1) a great and beautiful girl and 2) a super talented photographer from Columbus, Ohio. I left a link to her Facebook page, so be sure to check her out and contact her if you're ever in need of some beautiful pictures taken and you're in the Columbus area!

Home.

In the past couple of days snow has accumulated significantly in Mishawaka, Indiana. So much so that both of the ponds on Bethel's campus have froze over, providing an opportune place to test one's courage and walk across. {the picture is not of me, but rather one of my bff's brittany. although i also crossed the fierce reflection pond} What does this mean for me? Lots of cuddle time with Shang in my dorm when I'm not required to go to a class.
I really enjoy my cozy little room, where most everything is either grey or purple. It has a quaint charm about it that I have come to love. I wasn't sure if I would ever feel like this dorm room was home, but come to find out: I have. I realized this today as I was finally walking back to my dorm. See, I had a really long day today. I was constantly either in class or in the practice room from nine this morning until five. And when I was walking back I realized how glad I was to be going to my room, my room. Where I live. And this... this is my new home. My home away from home.

Blessings.

Sometimes I still can't believe that I'm actually living in a new place. Not just visiting. It's  a very hard thing to wrap ones mind around. Most of this time I feel as if this is just some vacation that will soon be over with... but then I see my stack of homework and reality comes knocking at my door.
I spend most of my days going from class to class and doing homework. But I'm so enjoying the college dorm lifestyle. The community that comes along with it. I've never been one for having many friends, girl friends especially. I just always felt as if all the girls I ever met just hated my guts. We never got along and I found the way to cliquey. But here. Here everything is different. I've finally found a place where I seem to fit in, and I don't even have to try. I've found people, girls, who actually accept me for me. They don't think I'm too conservative, they don't think I'm too worldly. They just like me. And sure, sometimes they make fun of my crazy antics, but I know that they love me. And I love them. I would honestly do anything for these girls, and I know that if I ever needed anything they would have my back. It's something that I haven't felt, well, ever.

I am so incredibly blessed.

Elements

On Saturday my friends and I went out Goodwill shopping and afterwards out for lunch. I've never eaten Chinese before so that's where we went. First of all: I loved it. Delish. Secondly: The owner was just the sweetest little thing. She came and pulled up a chair next to us and asked us what we had been thinking of getting, we told her, and she described the entire dish to us and if we weren't sure about something she told us something else we may like. She was just the sweetest little lady ever.

I can't tell you how much I am sincerely loving it here. Sure, I miss home like crazy. I miss it so much. I miss my bed, and Hunter, and Mercy-Roo. But I love so much of being here. The fact that I have friends, real friends, is one of the best things. I love sitting in our rooms talking about useless things and sometimes really important things.

and here's to many more

{yes. that is me with short hair... super short hair. moral behind the story: don't mess with me, because i will bring over a hundred dollars worth of pennies and kick your butt in a penny march and proceed to throw a pie in your face}
Happy Birthday to one of my favorite cousins: Brad. The kid has went from being one of those cool older kids you've always looked up to into this 20 year old extremely close friend. You're amazing Brad, and though you'll probably never see this I want to tell you how much I've appreciated you especially over the past two years. You've been more than a friend, you've been my brother. Thank you for always watching out for me, and teaching me the ways of Assassin's Creed. You've let me cut your hair. You've just been one of the best friends I will ever have the pleasure of having. We may fight sometimes, but that's what siblings are for. I'm going to miss you when we both move away to our colleges. I love ya, bud.

what i wore: in details//boys

Floral Top- TJ Maxx; Grey Cardigan- Target; Jeans- JC Penney
Have I ever mentioned how much I love this top? The colors. The print. The lace. The cap sleeves. Everything about this top screams GIRLY and I love it. Normally I don't wear lots of girly things (other than Hello Kitty of course) but I really love girly things. It just isn't seen in my clothes too often.
I wore this to church when leading worship, and then later when I hung out with a number of my friends. Actually, now that I think about it, they were all boys. A lot of girls get bored hanging out with guys, but I really enjoy hanging out with them. Watching them play video games I don't understand, listening to their banter. I've always had more guy friends than girls, and I don't ever regret that. The thing that I appreciate about my guy friends is that I know that as much as they pick on me, and me on them, that I can count on them. Guys (at least the ones I know) have this sense of loyalty that I've never seen girls have. They may punch each other, but they don't mess with each other's inside feelings very often.
As girly as I can be, as much as I love my florals, as much as my guy friends make fun of my girliness, I'd gladly take five of my best guy friends, over one girl acquaintance any day.
